Dozens killed in Pakistan-Afghanistan clashes, border closed
Fierce skirmishes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border left dozens dead and forced the closure of border crossings. Pakistan claimed over 200 Taliban fighters were killed; in turn, Afghanistan claimed 58 Pakistani soldiers were lost. Both sides exchanged fire and artillery; the clashes subsided only after diplomatic pressure. The border remains sealed amid rising tensions.
