Lahore (May 19, 2026): Jahangir Khan Tareen has inaugurated a modern computer lab at Government Progressive Girls High School. With this inauguration, it marks the sixth computer lab established in Lahore by Jahangir Khan Tareen within just one month. The lab has been developed by Tareen Education Foundation (TEF) at an estimated cost of nearly PKR 10 million, with the aim of providing students with modern and high-quality digital educational facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Jahangir Khan Tareen said, “We have built a lab that matches the standards of labs found in elite schools, so that children from low-income communities can also have access to the same facilities and opportunities available to children from privileged backgrounds. Providing equal opportunities to both rich and underprivileged children is a fundamental right.” He further added, “It has always been my desire and priority to work in the field of education, particularly for students with limited resources. Digital education is the key to securing the future of our children.”

He said that merely constructing a computer lab is not enough, it is equally important to provide an environment that enhances students’ ability to learn and understand.

Jahangir Khan Tareen further stated that he has observed that whether schools are in Lahore or in remote areas of South Punjab, educational institutions with limited resources face almost similar challenges. He said that the educational initiatives of Tareen Education Foundation are designed to provide education aligned with industry needs so that students can secure better employment opportunities in the future.

Jahangir Khan Tareen further stated: “If high-performing students gain admission to universities abroad, Tareen Education Foundation will provide support, guidance and possible assistance to help talented young individuals represent Pakistan at the global level.”

Present at the ceremony, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Tariq Mahmood appreciated Jahangir Khan Tareen’s efforts and stated that these initiatives represent an important step in the right direction for the education sector. He said that he was grateful to Jahangir Khan Tareen for prioritizing the needs of government schools and the students studying there.

He further informed that uninterrupted electricity supply has been ensured through solar panels in the lab established by Tareen Education Foundation, enabling students to continuously benefit from modern educational facilities.

Chief Executive Officer of Tareen Education Foundation, Akbar Khan, said that the Foundation is working on educational projects worth billions of rupees in South Punjab. He stated that the Foundation wishes to keep the lab operational even during summer vacations so that, with the principal’s approval, students can continue benefiting from this facility.

School Principal Mubashra Aftab thanked Jahangir Khan Tareen and said that the school currently has more than 2,000 students enrolled. She added that the establishment of the computer lab will provide students with an opportunity to acquire modern education and digital skills, enabling them to play an effective role in the development and progress of society in the future
