Modern Computer Lab Announced for Queen Mary School aswell


Lahore: Jahangir Khan Tareen inaugurated a state-of-the-art computer laboratory established with the support of the Tareen Education Foundation at Government Queen Mary Graduate College Lahore. Built at a cost of PKR 10 million, the facility aims to provide female students with access to modern technology and digital learning opportunities, equipping them with the skills required to meet future challenges.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Jahangir Khan Tareen said that the future of the younger generation is closely linked with modern education and technology, which is why education remains his foremost priority. He stated that through the Tareen Education Foundation, significant efforts are being made to ensure that quality educational resources and opportunities reach underprivileged communities.

He emphasized that philanthropists and individuals with means should also contribute to the education sector, as investment in education can bring about positive and lasting social change.

Speaking about his roots, Tareen shared that his tribe originated from Balochistan before settling in Multan. In recognition of this connection, he announced the establishment of a high-quality educational institution for boys and girls in District Pishin, Balochistan. He said that approximately PKR 1 billion would be spent by TEF to provide the region’s youth with access to excellent educational facilities.

Jahangir Khan Tareen also announced the establishment of a modern computer laboratory for the school affiliated with Government Queen Mary Graduate College, modeled on the facility inaugurated at the college. He said that seeing young girls pursue education with enthusiasm and dedication gives him immense satisfaction and encouragement.

On the occasion, Muhammad Rafiq, Group Director Finance at JDW Sugar Mills, said that education has now become the central focus of Jahangir Khan Tareen’s philanthropic efforts. He noted that the Tareen Education Foundation was established in 2010 and that, even before its formation, Tareen had undertaken several social welfare initiatives in Lodhran, including major sanitation and sewerage projects.

Muhammad Rafiq further stated that the Tareen Education Foundation is currently working with more than 225 educational institutions to improve infrastructure, basic facilities, and the quality of education. He added that the Tareen Institute for Education and Resource Center is also being established in Lodhran at a cost of PKR 2.5 billion. Expressing concern over Pakistan’s education challenges, he highlighted that nearly 28 million children remain out of school and stressed the need for urgent measures to bring them into the education system.

Addressing the gathering, Akbar Khan said that Jahangir Khan Tareen is making dedicated efforts to promote quality education, particularly for female students, and that educational projects worth billions of rupees have been completed under the Tareen Education Foundation.

Principal of Government Queen Mary Graduate College, Dr. Sidra Amir, thanked Jahangir Khan Tareen and the Tareen Education Foundation for what she described as a historic contribution to the institution. She said that the newly established computer laboratory is equipped with world-class facilities and will play a vital role in enhancing the academic and professional prospects of the students.

The ceremony was attended by Jahangir Khan Tareen’s grandson, Hussain Shah, along with faculty members, students, education experts, and distinguished guests from various walks of life. Participants described the establishment of the modern computer laboratory as a significant and welcome initiative for female students and a valuable contribution to the promotion of quality education.
